What is the difference between handmade and store-bought soap?

Handmade soap often uses natural oils, retains skin-nourishing glycerin (which is often removed in commercial soap), and avoids harsh synthetic detergents.

Why is handmade soap more expensive?

It is a result of high-quality ingredients (organic oils, essential oils) and the time-intensive process, including small-batch crafting and curing for several weeks.

Does handmade soap/candles contain lye or harsh chemicals?

While soap requires lye (sodium hydroxide) to turn oils into soap, properly made soap contains zero residual lye. Many customers seek out natural ingredients, avoiding synthetic preservatives and fragrance oils.

Why does my candle have black soot or smoke?

This is often due to improper wicking, a lack of trimming, or poor-quality soy/paraffin blend. Clean-burning candles (soy or beeswax) require careful wick selection to avoid soot on walls.

How long does handmade soap last?

With proper care (using a well-draining soap dish), a handmade bar generally lasts 2–4 weeks.

How often should I use a body scrub?

Body scrubs should generally be used 1-3 times a week, as over-exfoliation can cause skin irritation.
